Ansty, a town just north of Coventry seems an unusual place to be at the forefront of the future of London's iconic black cab trade. However it is here that, following the raising of $400 million, LTC, owned by Geely, the Chinese car maker, will equip the factory where the new TX5 will be built.
The TX5 is a six seat, electric - hybrid vehicle designed to meet the new vehicle emissions roles that come into force in London in 2018. The aim is for the vehicles to have a single charge electric zero emission range of 100 miles. It is estimated that the TX5 will set back cabbies a cool £42,000 and should be available next year. Tradex look forward to seeing the cabbies popping into their iconic Minories office to ensure the latest generation of black cabs to hit London's streets.
Make sure your taxi is insured.
